Altar Servers
Boys and girls in fourth through eighth grade, who are members of St. John the Evangelist Parish, may become knights or lady knights of the altar. Students should understand that it is a joy and privilege to serve at the altar of God, and that they will be officially representing the people of the parish.
All altar servers should attend Mass regularly and receive the sacraments. An altar server must be reverent, respectful and maintain excellent conduct during training sessions, in the sanctuary, while serving, and attending Mass. Finally, knights and lady knights must be extremely faithful to the schedule published.
Students from other parishes are encouraged to contact their parish priest regarding their home parish’s ministry policy and training process.
Upon graduation from eighth grade, the altar server has the option to begin training as a high school acolyte (Grades 9-12).
